CLEAR SPRINGS PLACE JOINS THE SAFE NEIGHBOR NETWORK!

Clear Springs Place has been selected to participate in a nationwide pilot program to help make homes and neighborhoods safer.

The Safe Neighbor Network (SNN) is a partnership between the American Red Cross and State Farm Insurance. The goal of the program is to make neighborhoods more resistant to natural and human-caused disasters and more resilient when disasters do occur. 

The Safe Neighbor Network emphasizes individual responsibility for disaster safety and preparedness while encouraging cooperation among neighborhood residents.  The program teaches residents the steps that are vital to making themselves and their homes safer. In addition, the program offers residents the opportunity to receive American Red Cross health and safety training, including training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), the use of automated external defibrillators (AED’s) and first aid. 

The Safe Neighbor Network is easily integrated into existing neighborhood-based organizations such as Neighborhood Watch, homeowners and civic associations.  It also offers a variety of activities and products that can be customized to meet the needs of the individual neighborhood groups.  Over time, the Safe Neighbor Network can significantly lessen the pain and suffering, and reduce the losses caused by disasters and other emergencies, and build a safer United States--one neighborhood at a time.

The project announcement and Kickoff will take place at Noon on Saturday, June 12 in the Clear Springs Place Recreation Center. There will be lots of food and refreshments, a moon walk for the children, a Red Cross Blood Drive, entertainment by a live band, and much more. The Richardson Police Department, the Richardson Fire Department, and area mascots will be there, and the local media has also been invited.
